FROM TOURIST TO TOUR GUIDE

ABOVE: spotted an auto rikshaw with my dad's name on it!
In a matter of a few months that I've been here, I've gotten pretty comfortable with Delhi. I'm used to taking autos and the metro, sometimes asking for directions, and getting around easily. While I feel comfortable here, I also know that there's much left for me to explore in the city. A few weeks back, I had my first visitors pop through. My friend Natalie's boyfriend and his two friends were making their way through delhi before their semesters at IIM. I wasn't able to meet up with the boys till the evening, but I was able to give them a good list of places to go till then. Some places I had visited and some that I knew I should visit!

I sent the boys to some monuments in old delhi, told them to eat at Karim's (which I have yet to try!), and mentioned a few places to go shopping. I met up with them in the evening and took them to a local favorite just down the street from my place. I was happy to hear that my recommendations for the day were a hit! After dinner, I took the guys over to Hauz Khas Village, the trendy neighborhood just near my place. I figured they would like this area which would be a real contrast from old delhi! We had a wonderful night out and I was so happy to have been able to share my knowledge of delhi with someone else. In fact, being a sort of tour guide makes me really feel at home!

This week my good friend from college landed and I'm back to acting as tour guide in the city! Last night we had a nice meal at Andhra Bhavan followed by a stroll near India gate. A nice way to spend a summer night.
